I just remebered a lot of pies, bisquits and breads were made from LARD. That's what my grandmother used before the vegetable oils came back. Now when I seat certain foods, even though people do not use Lard, and I couldn't eat anything now made with it, if the taste and tecture is not close to it, I feel 'y'all don't know how to cook. I love sweet potatoe pies, fresh picked greens that you can 'sop' up the greens and juice with your fingers, and those dired apple pies. Oh I forgot they also used buteer everywhere. There was a forum on Afrigeneas about recipes. I haven't looked at it, but that could be an even better place to start. Lord.. I could eat some hot bisquit's, in all of this cold weather.
