I have ancestors on my father's side that were living in the Gold Hill area before the turn of the century. My ggggrandparents Eli Miller (b.1827)and Eva (or Eve) Heilig Miller(b.1831) were living in Gold Hill according to the 1870 Census. Additional family surnames from thia area include Icenhour and Kelly. Also had Miller ancestry from Mt. Pleasant, Cabarrus, NC. Eli and Eva's son and my gggrandfather Daniel F Miller was listed as a Gold Miner in Morgan Twnshp Rowan Co. in 1900 along with his wife was Josephine Icenhour.
