Re: [LA] STEVENSON
In Response To: Re: [LA] STEVENSON ()

N,

Here is what I have.

13 counties of Louisiana in 1803 (The term Parish was used later):
1.Acadia
2.Attakapas
3.Concordia
4.German Coast
5.Iberville
6.Lafourche
7.Natchitoches
8.Opelousas
9.Orleans
10.Ouachita
11.Pointe Coupee
12.Rapides

The below parishes are no longer in existence:

Bolixi Parish, Louisiana and Pascagoula Parish, Louisiana were formed in 1811 from West Florida. They were eliminated in 1812 when part of the West Florida area was transferred to Mississippi Territory.

Warren Parish, Louisiana was formed in 1811 from part of Concordia Parish and merged into Concordia Parish and Ouachita Parish in 1814.

I know my great great grandfather was a slave in Concordia Parish in the 1840s and possible in the 1830s. The new owner bought him when he was small which was sometine between 1830 and 1844. I know the plantation was there in the 1790s.
