I need help. Please point me in the right direction. My ggg Amos Everett 1857-1927 resided in Rusk,Panola,Texas. I am unable to find any record of who his parents were on his death certificate it only list his father as Orther Everrett. As told by my oldest living cousin Orther and Amos came to america as slaves and when Amos and his father arrived Amos was only 12 and that they were separated and his father was sold to another family. How to I research or find additional information. I was also told that he was separated from a brother whom he found later in Texas and I only know that she called him Uncle Simon.

How do I get beyond this road block. Any information would help.
