[NY] Obtaining Copies of Deeds and BCs

Date: Tuesday, 21 July 2009, 8:36 pm

You can obtain, by mail, a copy of the birth, death, marriage or divorce certificate for those whose life events occurred in New York City (NYC). The website is:
href="https://www.vitalchek.com/new-york-city-express-birth-certificates.aspx" target="_blank">https://www.vitalchek.com/new-york-city-express-birth-certificates.aspx

This service is provided by VitalChek [which I have used and appreciate for the quality VitalChek provides]. There is, of course, a fee for the service. I paid $65 for 3 copies of a birth certificate. The $65 fee included a charge of $15 for mailing [which I opted for to ensure the certificates arrived in a timely fashion and in good condition].

New York City also provides another online service called NYCServ. Here you can determine the information about a property based on property tax records. This is particularly useful if you own property in NYC to see if the property taxes are up-to-date or are in arrears.

The third online service NYC offers is ACRIS
href="http://www.nyc.gov/html/dof/html/jump/acris.shtml" target="_blank">http://www.nyc.gov/html/dof/html/jump/acris.shtml

At this site, you can obtain the history of ownership of properties located in the five boroughs of NYC [the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and Staten Island]. The records reveal the deed history, history of mortages, UFC history, etc.

If you find difficulty accessing these sites, I am willing to access them for you.
