I have several friends from Tallulah, Sonheimer in Madison Parish. I have been to Tallulah doing research on Ben & Henry Smith descendants. Tallulah has a population of 9,189 according to the 2000 census and has a black population of 6,872 people. The Madison parish library had very little information when I was there in 2007. The parish was very big in cotton and it still has very large cotton fields today. I was told my family moved there to pick cotton and this was back in the 1930's, 40's, 50's. Most have died and moved on to other cities. But most just wnet ther for the season to pick cotton went back to their towns after cotton picking was over. I will be going back to Louisiana in a month is there something you would like for me to check out?
