Thank you all for your advice and suggestions. I have been researching the area and am doing more now. Luckily I will not be traveling with my youngest who is especially helpful in cemetery research.
I am going to Pickens, South Carolina in Pickens County. I am researching the family from 1900-1850. Most of the family moved to Cherokee County in Gaffney, South Carolina around 1900.
I will not take a computer just pencil and paper. I find that when I am doing research, people are just not as friendly when I look "professional.
