Deannie, Is that HALL HYDER or HALL, HYDER?
Some of my slave ancestors who were slaves in Louisiana lived in Port Gibson for a time. Samuel Gibson acquired a Spanish tract of land on the south fork of Bayou Pierre and the settlement was known as Gibson's Port or Gibson's Landing. The name was changed in 1811 to Port Gibson. I mention this because I found some articles that mentioned Gibson's Landing and other articles that mentioned Port Gibson. I didn't know they were the same place at the time.
