BJ, have you tried contacting the Newberry Library yet, as Ron suggested? Anyway, the Library was able to send me a copy of my ancestor's app for an SSN #. It was required by the Railroad since he was an employee. Has his parents' names and their places of birth on it, as well. Great stuff! Try it (that is, if you haven't already).
