SUPPOSEDLY, Slave importation from Africa stopped in 1820, I'm sure people had the incentive and ingenuity to get around the laxly enforced laws. Be careful though, one of my ancestors repeatedly put down that he was born in Africa--unlikely, given his extremely fair skin color. Found out he was actually born in Arkansas!
