In keeping those interested in the Camden, New Jersey documents on searchable database informed, I was fortunate enough to have a brief conversation with Mr Lutz. Mr Lutz is Camden's first records manager. He stated that his department was, "awaiting awarding of the funding from the State of New Jersey, which is not anticipated to be given to the City of Camden until fall of 2008 after which additional time will be necessary to conduct the historical preservation and conversion of the items in question into electronic format. Following this, we then will attempt to obtain funding to conduct indexing of the records in question so that we can move forward in creating a means for allow users to conduct electronic searches." Mr Lutz noted that though his department do intend to finish this project in a reasonable timeframe, it is regrettable that he cannot at present give a more definitive timeline. It is my hope that we will hear an updated status by the beginning of the new year.
