Re: [NC] Death Certificates 1909-1975 online
In Response To: [NC] Death Certificates 1909-1975 online ()
Thank you for this posting. Even though I have subscribed to Ancestry for years I was unaware of this new database. My sons have ADAMS, AVERY, CLAYBROOK, JOYCE and SETTLE ancestors and relatives of NC. Having found many in our tree already in the NC Death Index, it has been a most enjoyable task finding their matching DC's. The additional info on the DC's have caused me to make some necessary changes to our tree but it's been an enjoyable experience. Finding females' maiden names is most crucial and I came across some conflicting and/or confusing info on some DC's. For instance, in the family of our Daniel Settle Sr, and wife, Mattie, a son's DC had mother's name as Martha Lachan, while a daughter's DC had mother's name as Mary Poindexter. Hmmm. The census records only pair Daniel with Mattie and they both died before death certificates were issued. It's easy to lose track of time while searching in the database. Ohhh, Mississippi, please, Mississippi, place your DC's online, too (LOL). Georgia Walker-Adams
