Denise: Go to "ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi" and type in her name and Tyler, TX. Is that her (3/16/14 - 5/78)?
a) Go to "google.com" and type in "Tyler, TX Funeral Directors." You may contact them, but they are NOT OBLIGATED to give any info. Write and explain why and what you want to know. Enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope in which to receive a reply.
b) Follow the same procedure when writing the hospital she was a patient in when she passed. Also ask if they have a record of her giving birth there (give a timeframe).
c) Go to "vitalrec.com/tx.html" for how to get birth/marriage/death certificates. Her death certificate would give the INFORMANT'S name and address, as well as the burial place and funeral director's name and address.
d) Go to "google.com" for cemeteries in Tyler (Smith County). Write and ask if she is interred in any of them. They would have the name/address of the person that handled her burial.
You can research the State archives in Austin, TX which has copies of all her vital documents on file.
Ruby Davis might also be on the Federal Census (see years 1920 and 1930 which are also in the State Library).
Keep all your findings together in a folder and dated. Photocopy whatever documents you can.
Be patient and diligent. WE ALL HAVE A PAPER TRAIL, so info is out there. Let us know how you make out.
