Re: [TN] Ordering Death Certificates
In Response To: [TN] Death Records Index 1908-1912 ()
You can order death certificates from the Cleveland Public Library in Tennessee up to I believe 1953. The cost is only $3 per certificate and you can order up to 5 at a time. Give the name of the deceased, date of death(or 3 year range), county, certificate number if you know it, and any other helpful information. Also, you NEED to send an SASE.
They also sell Vital Statistic books for some of the eastern Tennessee Counties. These books contains an abstract of information as recorded in the death certificates with information such as name of the deceased, where born, name of parents, where the parents were born, death year, certificate number. You can see what books are available at the link below. Here is the address where you order the certificates:
Cleveland Public Library History Branch
their e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org
I order from them all the time and they are very friendly and really helpful!!
