Taken Up

Committed to the Jail of Guilford Co. NC on the last day of Jan 1863, two negro men,
Joe and Harry. Joe is a dark copper color with a scar near his left eye, three front teeth above
out, five feet five inches high, aged 25 or 30 yrs old--will weight about 145 lbs; clothing twilled
cotton goods, nearly worn out; white wool hat and says he belongs to the widow Mary Mayo of
Edgecombe Co. NC. Harry, nearly black , a small scar over each eye, the same sort of clothing
of Joe, expect Harry has a black linsey coat on : front teeth above decayed; weight about 140 lbs about
25 yrs old is 5'7 and says he belongs to Miss Pennxxx Bryant, of Edgecombe Co, and their owners are
sisters.
The owners are hereby requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges and take them away or they
will be dealt with according to the law.
