Unfortunately the Afrolumens website (www.afrolumens.org) was discontinued in September 2007 due to lack of time to maintain it. I took a job in the Harrisburg school system and am now working daily with high school students, but find my work days, which usually go 10 or 12 hours, totally occupied with school business. This is not a complaint--I love the work and putting time in with the young people--but there was simply no time left to keep up with the incredible demands of a website.

I am now half way through a book about Harrisburg's antebellum Black community, which will utilize the considerable research I did for Afrolumens. Perhaps after the book is finished the website will make a comeback in some form.

PS--Don't be insulted by the "denied access" message. Everyone gets that, but there is nothing there to see anymore. That only appears because I had renewed the domain name for three years just a few months before closing the site.
