The best resource is usually one from the local area.
Even then, the more information you can give, the better. Attempt to find in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren who may still have ties to Grant parish.
First, know your area.
Grant parish was formed in 1869 from parts of Winn and Rapides parish.
It is surrounded by Winn to the North, Rapides to the South, Natchitoches to the west and La Salle to the east.
Colfax is near the Red River area, and about 20 miles from Pollock.
Pollock is about 15 miles North of Pineville (Rapides).

There are several James Wilsons indexed.
One is from Grant parish:

Est. Birth Year: 1846 (off about 5 years from the estimated birth year in the 1880 census)
Age: 70 years

You can order a NON-certified copy of death records from the Louisiana State Archives in Baton Rouge.
I could not find a definite match for Eliza/Liza.
One ELIZA was born in 1838 and died in 1918 at 80 years old.
She was in LIVINGSTON parish - across the state. Keep this is mind as you trace the children in later census records.
An Eliza WILSON, born in 1837 and died in 1925 a few parishes south in Vermillion.
3. Census History - Very important in understanding the family group.
Eliza (40) and James (45) are in Rapides parish (Pineville) in 1870 with:
1880: Jim (39) and Liza(43) are in Grant parish (2nd Ward) with:
Tona (17) [Tena?]
1900: James (58) and Liza (50) are in Grant Parish (Pollock). They have been married for 35 years.
Liza has 8 living children (of 11 born).
In the household are:
Lubecca (7) - - > grand-daughter
In 1870, there is another WILSON family in Rapides parish (Lamourie).
Henry(39) and Jane (23) Wilson are enumerated with children:
Elsie (7) [another one]
Hillery (5) Male
The family head, HENRY, was born in Alabama; the mother, Jane, was born in SC.
*Note that TWINS MAY run in the Wilson Family.
By 1880, an older Henry (59) and Jane (40) are in St. Mary parish with
Henrietta (5 months)
These Other WILSONs may or may NOT be related, but there was proximity and similar naming patterns, as well as the 'twins'.

An ELSIE Wilson Bell is listed in the LA Statewide Death Index.
Death Date: Aug 1940 at 70 years of age.
An Abe Bell died in Ascension in 1947 at 63 years of age (approximately).
Note: Ascension parish is in Southern LA, NEAR Livingston and East Baton Rouge parishes. Assumption and St. James are to the south. Iberville is to the east.
In the same area in 1900 is Millie Chambers (40 yr. old widow) with

Lilly and husband Wash Spotsville are in Grant parish in 1920.

One is a 70 year old with death date July 1929 (Grant parish).
