Re: [AL] Researching Perry County - Baker Family
In Response To: Re: [AL] Researching Perry County ()
Thanks so much for the information and I will definitely try to attend one of the workshops. I've never been to Uniontown, AL and unfortunately, most, if not all, my family has moved.
My grandmother's name was Ruby (Riggs) Baker (yr of birth circa - 1902) and my granddad's name was Millard Baker (yr of birth circa - 1896). Millard's father's name was William Baker (yr of birth circa 1861) and his grandfather's was George Baker (yob circa 1817).
My family said my great grand father, William Baker, owned a lot of land in Uniontown and was married twice. I think his first wife's name was Emma Baker and his second wife's name was Lula Baker. He married Lula after Emma passed away.
Unfortunately, I haven't found too much on my grandmother, Ruby (Riggs) Baker. I only found her in one Census, I believe 1930, where she was listed as my granddad's, Millard Baker, wife. I'm hoping to find more on her and know she is somehow related to the Crosby or Cosby family; may have been born in Brown's Station, Dallas County.
Keep in touch and share your info too! I hear everyone in Perry County, particularly Uniontown, knew each other during that time. Best with your search; its so much fun!!
