Re: [MS] List of Educable Children?
In Response To: [MS] List of Educable Children? ()
Antonio, In Mississippi, you will find the Educable Children Lists at the county courthouse, county school board office, county libraries, and the Mississippi Archives. The 1894 Jefferson County Children Lists is online at http://jeffersoncountyms.org/1894educablechildren.htm
The Mississippi Archives does not have a copy of Jefferson County earliest lists. Jefferson County begins with the year 1912 at the Archives. I have been told that a Jefferson County researcher is transcribing the 1892 Jefferson lists for publication. I will notify the forum when this work is available for purchase. Try the Mississippi Archives web site for other resources available there at http://www.mdah.state.ms.us/index.html. If you discover something of interest and it is available on microfilm, try ordering through your local Family History Center. The folks at the Family History Centers are usually very friendly, so, if you are unsure of what you need, they can help you make the right choice. Linda
