Their household included son William, also a shoemaker, born c. 1828 VA; daughters/daughters-in-law Caroline, born c. 1830 LA and Anne, born c. 1842 OH; grandsons Charles, born, c. 1860 OH, and George, born c. 1864 OH. Gabriel and Mary also may be parents of Moses Strange, born c. 1825 IN/VA, married to Frances "Fannie," born c. 1840 KY. In addition to his years as a farmer in Indiana, Moses worked in Cincinnati as a porter and finally as a bootblack (shoe shiner). A son of Moses and Frances, Leonidas Strange, a painter/whitewasher, born c.1859 OH, married TX-born Ellen Bybee in Marion County, IN. Perhaps coincidentally, a shoemaker named Gabriel L. Strange, born c. 1811 in Canada, lived in Center/Indianapolis, Marion County, IN 1840-50 with wife Ann, born c. NJ 1821, and daughter Mary A. Strange, born IN 1836.
