Check out the reason why the place was called Plaisance. My hunch is that it was named for a ship called the Pink Plaisance that started from Germany bringing immigrants from areas such as Ireland and Germany first to Pennsylvania. These same Germans once immigrating into Pa., before the American Revolution, eventually moved Southward into North Carolina, and possibly some of them moved to Louisiana. Some of these immigrants ended up with some slaves.
