Good day everyone! I am desperately seeking assistance with research into my african-american family lineage. It's getting more and more complex all of the time. I am currently researching the Callen-Smith-Williams family of Dallas County Alabama. I have gotten as far back as my g-g-grandmother Celie (Smith) Williams who was born in slavery in about 1852. She was married to Pierce Williams. Their children were Lucy Smith-Callen and Phillis Smith, Andrew, Martha, Thomas and Alfy (Alphia) Williams. All resided in Dallas County, Alabama.
My great-grandmother Lucy Callen married George Callen.
I am seeking information also on the Callen family. Variants in the spelling of the name are Callen/Callens/Callins/Callines. This family also originated in Dallas County. Some moved to Autauga county. Looking for as many as possible.
