[NC] Gold Hill

It was called Gold Hill back in the 1840s(?). It is located in North Carolina, in Rowan County, but a little closer to the Cabarrus-Rowan County line. It was once a place where those interested did dig for gold, and lots of small villages and so forth put up. White people worked there, so did freed Black and slave Black. However, it later became like most small areas a little rural town, where people set up their families and so forth. After the Civil War, many of the Black folks also began to live in and around or even a little closer to Gold Hill.
My research goes into that of my great grandfather Andy Crowell, who had land in Gold Hill, married to a Cherokee woman named Rachel, and they had about five children, one in particular Martha Ellen Crowell, my grandmother. Others in that region who were Black were Shad, Heilig, House; and among the whites were Culp, Russell, Goodman, Trent.
Martha Ellen Crowell married John House in 1885; and they had six children, one of those children Felicia became my mother.
What I need here is for those persons who are connected with Gold Hill, who had families there, and who know something to contact me, please. Joseph
