Can someone tell me when Pennsylvania started keeping official death records? I am looking for a death record/certificate for my g-g uncle Robert E Smith. He was born between 1873-1880 in Franklin Co, VA. Each census gives a different year of birth. He died between 1920-1930 possibly in Upper Fayette, PA. His widow was Ella Tyree Smith. She was working as a chambermaid in a hotel. Is Upper Fayette todays Pittsburgh?
