this is emmie's brother joe/joseph davis. different spelling of the last name. sam ella williams is my great grandmother she was raised by her uncle. emmie was her mother and john was not her father. sam ella's father was samuel lawrence who is white. joseph and emmie's parent i have no info. i was told that this family was not very close. i made contact with a wife who married emmie's grandson emmerson, jr. who is deceased, but she relayed to me that her husband and his brothers who migrated to southern california never talked about their family or mansfield. i ordered joseph davis' death certificate and it lists his father as mitchell davis and no name for the mother.
