Re: [MO] Question About Fitchue Listing in 1850
In Response To: Re: [MO] Question About Fitchue Listing in 1850 ()
Sorry I've been delayed at getting back to your response. I'm still searching for the Fitchue family and I've had some exciting news pertaining to Frank. He lived in Durango Colorado in the 1880s through the early 1900s. The last census siting for him is 1910. But just last Sunday, March 25, 2007, there was an article published in the Durango Herald about him. The reporter contacted me because she saw my name on a message post on Ancestry.com where I was looking for Fitchue relatives. It seems that Frank foiled a bank robbery attempt at the 1st National Bank of Durango where he worked as a porter. Because of the article and because the bank is celebrating it's 125th anniversary, they have decided to thank Frank for his bravery by commissioning a bronze plaque with his picture engraved on it and it will hang in the bank with an explanation of what he did. They say there was $30,000.00 in the safe of gold and currency.
What a discovery!!!
