Re: [AR] Anyone heard of Earle
In Response To: Re: [AR] Anyone heard of Earle ()

I wish I knew if I was related to the Ponds. My great-great-grandparents Mark and Franceslived in Lexington County, Gilbert Hollow, in 1880. I didn't find them. It said they were born in South Carolina but I didn't find them or any of the family before 1880. She had an older son named James Melvin Airhart and one named Samuel. The others were Ponds. My great-grandfather Bascom and his brother George settled in Arkansas where they raised their families. George was married to Ida Swygert also from SC. His brother Cromwell, moved to Kansas City, then to Salt Lake City Utah, and finally to Oakland, California where he died. His brother Thomas moved to Contra Costa County in 1938 and died there in 1948. He was married to a Minnie Curtis from South Carolina. The other part of the family never reunited with them. Someone else told me I had Ponds and Lytes relatives in Batesburg/Leesville. I don't have a clue.

My great-grandfather told us he was Lumbee, African-American, and European-American and he certainly looked it. He died when I was seven but I remember him very well.

I have run into brick walls with this Ponds family although there are zillions in Tennessee, Louisiana, and in Alabama.

If you run across anything remotely related to this family, please let me know.

Maggie
