Earle, Arkansas is in the dreaded Crittendon County. Many former slaves worked there and some labor contracts from Tennessee are listed for this county. My great-grandmother's brother lived in Crittendon County following the Civil War. From listening to conversations, it sounded like plantations just continued in this area.

I've heard the name many times. The population is about 75% African-American even now.
