[VA] A Guide to Heritage Sites in Hampton

Guide highlights local African American sites
January 18, 2007
"Family Tree: A Guide to African American Heritage Sites in Hampton, Virginia" is a 25-page guide featuring history, educational and religious sites, visitor attractions and recognition of African Americans who helped shape Hampton's future. Available through the Hampton Convention & Visitor Bureau, the guide will help market the city's African American heritage to meeting planners, tour operators, travel writers and individual travelers.

"Family Tree" was first released in 1996, but was updated in time for distribution to 2007 State of the Black Union attendees, Feb. 10 at Hampton University Convocation Center. The event is presented in partnership by Tavis Smiley Presents, Inc., Jamestown 2007 and the African American Advisory Council.

For a copy of the guide, visit the Hampton Visitor Center at 120 Old Hampton Lane; call 800-800-2202 or 727-1102; or e-mail
