My local genealogy group sent out this message:

Clayton Genealogy Library in Houston now has microfilm of Texas death certificates. You must know the death date and use an index to find the certificate. They can be printed from the microfilm without having to order them from Austin or getting them at the county clerk's office and pay a large fee.
