"A Thanksgiving dinner for the aged, poor and orphan negroes was given Thursday with approximately 200 persons sharing the feast. Dr. J.U. Jimison, pastor of the St. Louis Street Baptist church, delivered the invocation. Dr. H.S. Tate delivered a sermon and Dr. F. Percy was master of ceremonies. ... The dinner was arranged by the following women: Evelyn Lowson, E. Jackson, Bennette ... and F.P. Young, chairman. Bread, pies and cakes were donated by Smith's Bakery."
