Yes to your question on Jesse Benham, who migrated from Laurens SC to Arkansas, and his children/grandchildren later to Chicago.

Jesse was left in Laurens when Willis Benham the plantation owner took my ancestor John Benham to Georgia around 1850. I believe that Jessee, John, Robert and George Benham were sons of a Richard Benham born abt 1828.

To date, have not found any progreny of Jessee Benham in Illinois or Arkansas. Some of the sons of Jesse Benham were Albert, Chester, John, and Richard. May also have been a daughter Catherine Benham.
