Re: [GA] HARRIS-Georgia and Michigan

: There are two possibilities in the 1870 Census. A Philip Harris is
: Troup County and one in Early County. The one in Early County can
: be
: ruled out because he was still living there in 1880. That leaves
: Philip of Troup.

Dawn,

I just tried to send you an email from Afrigeneas but it would not send. Thank you so much. I try very hard not to get too hopeful when receiving information but this find is the greatest I have ever received. My mother (who died in 1979) chose not to tell me anything. My birth certificate says that George L. Harris (GLH-my birth father) was born in Petoskey, Michigan but I have exhausted all avenues and have found no GLH there. Besides, I discovered those records were destroyed in a fire sometime back so there is no real record. I do know that people of that era, having come from different areas have given other information in regard to their birthplace. Still, even with this one discrepancy, this is the best information I have received.

I thank you so very much. I will let you know how things go.

Margaret
