Additional surnames that I am researching are: Andy Sells,was born
in Creek Nation, Muskogee OK. He was 13 or 14 years old when the
Civil War broke out. His mother Nancy Sells hired him out to a
Yankee Officer at Ft Gibson where he was on a steamboat for approx.
8-9 months.At the surrender of the Civil War,Andy was turned loose
in Little Rock AR. Andy moved further down in the state of Arkansas
and stayed for 30 years. He returned to Creek Nation around
1902.Andy Sells father was Lewis Kernal,his mother was Nancy Sells.
She was a Cherokee Freedmen.His 1/2 brother was David Dickson and
his 1/2 sister, my gg-grandmother was Clorey Vann wife of Joseph
(Turk) Vann, mother of Jane Swepston, my g-grandmother.
Ave Vann, Scott-Irish, moved to then Indian Territory (Arkansas in
1832). After his death his estate went to his daughter Caty (Katie)
Williams who freed her slaves in 1861.Ave Vann and Caty Williams
were the owner of my gg-grandfather Joseph Turk Vann. My gg-
grandfather according to family lore was of native american
ancestry. I'm researching the connection of this family to my gg-
grandfather. My gg-grandfather had a previous wife named Minta
Johnson (maiden name)Barlow.They had two children Frances who
married George Daniels, and Susan who married Nelson Thompson.
