I am trying to find any information on my father's side of family. They
were from Columbus County. My father's name was John Lewis Goss. His
parents were Charlie Goss and Mary Marley Goss. Mary Marley Goss'
parents were John Marley and Elcy Robeson Marley. John Marley was a
preacher, owned a lot of land in the area of Mt. Olive. He started the
Mt. Olive Baptist Church and donated some of his land to help start a
school for the black children. That is all I was able to find out. I
would love to know about his parents and especially Elcy's family. I
don't know about hers. They were both Mulattos. So I would like to know
where they originated from and who their slavemasters were. If anyone
can help me, I would be very, very greatful.
