I took another look at my grandfather's application form and he wrote "Scotts, Miss" as his place of birth in 1888. It is in his own handwriting. "Scotts" might mean the property of a family named Scott. My grandfather and his family are in the 1900 Census, Rodney, Jefferson Co., MS. The family is in the 1880 Census, Tensas Par., LA.
