[NC] Henrietta Smith Obit
I recently received a copy of the February 21, 1917 Fayetteville Observer which included the following obituary for Henrietta Smith:
DEATH OF A RESPECTED COLORED WOMAN. Autryville,Feb. 13.--The death angel visited Fleet J. Smith's home on February 12, 1917, and summoned his wife, Henrietta, home. She died in full triumph of faith, calling on Jesus. She was born March 11, 1862. She lived 54 years, eleven months. She confessed hope in Christ and was baptised in 1884 by Rev. W.H. Andrews, and connected herself with the Old County Line Missionary Baptist Church, and at her death was a member of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist church, and there she lived a consistent member until she died. She always looked out for the interests of her family and the church. She leaves to mourn her loss, which is heaven's gain, a husband, one sister and eleven children--seven boys and four girls--and fourteen grandchildren and a host of friends. She was highly esteemed by all who knew her. Sleep on, Henrietta; we will meet you by-and-by. THE FAMILY.
