For those who are researching Bossier Parish in Louisiana, this is an excellent resource.
Choose the Database and Collections link.
If looking for a person fill in the first name and surname or surname only.
If looking for a place or subject, enter that place or subject in the surname field.

Try typing the word "slave" in the surname field and over 1600 entries appear. Many slaves are mentioned by first name with additional information such as parents, owners, associations with plantations,churches, comments, etc.

Documents may be obtained for the cost of copying.

The 'curators' at this library/historical center have spent a lot of time extracting and inputting information on Bossier citizens, history, and African Americans in the area.

They are also very, very, helpful and friendly.
I've spoken with them via telephone.
