Re: [LA] Methodist Church History

Are you looking for a history of the church itself or of the member families? I know DU did not fare well, but some of the materials may have been duplicated elsewhere. What about other archives? Could there be something at the New Orleans Public Library OR the Louisiana Methodist Archives in Shreveport? The pastor may not be the ONLY one with access to the church records. See if you can contact the secretary, another member of the historical committee or even a church member (elder). Church histories are known to be very popular and 'collectible'.
What about the author of the online church history? I believe he is from Houma! Would he have a 'working' copy? Were ALL copies sent to the DU archives? Were copies deposited at another (local) archive? Did ALL the records make the transfer from Shreveport to New Orleans? Leave no stone unturned. There are other members of the (LA) United Methodist Historical Society that may know about this project and how it was administered (some may even have email addresses). At any rate, good luck.
