I am trying to find information about the Dunbar surname in Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire or Goffstown, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. My grandfather, Elmer Dunbar Sr. (his middle initial is E but there is some confusion as to whether it stands for Emmett or not), supposedly had a brother named Ralph Dunbar and a mother named Nellie May (or Mae) Dunbar. Elmer Dunbar Sr. was born sometime around 1927 in Manchester, NH (uncertain about exact town). His mother, Nellie M. Dunbar, was supposedly born about 1904 in Russell County, NH, but there are tales about him living in Goffstown. My grandfather's brother, Ralph Dunbar, was supposedly 3 or 4 years younger than Elmer E. Dunbar Sr. If anybody out there can help me out, I would really appreciate it. This is the hardest branch of my family to trace because my grandfather is very tight-lipped about his parents. At one point, he was in an orphanage (but I do not know why).
