Some ancestors of my Texan grandfather were born in SC, according to census. It appears that they were brought to Fort Bend and Brazoria counties in Texas by slaveholding families Mitchell (from Virginia, North Carolina, and Kentucky) and Brevard (from Camden, Kershaw, SC).
