I am also researching the Moultrie Ancestors. My Moultrie line is from St. Andrews Township, Charlston S.C. On my greatgrandmother's birth and death certificate, Emma Moultrie, Jacob K. Moultrie and Hagar Ann Manigault is entered as her parents.

In the 1880 census, Jacob and Hagar had 4 children listed, my greatgrandmother was not born as yet.

In addition, Jacob had a brother named Ishmael Moultrie. Ishmael was an "untrained" ordained minister during the period after slavery who taught blacks to read the bible and speak english. He is a family historical figure in Edisto Island. He also was part of the Freedman's Bureau.
