[FL] Largo Library as genealogy center?
Library could be genealogy center
Has any consideration been given to making the old Largo Library building a countywide central location for genealogical research?
Each of Pinellas County's libraries has varying amounts of these materials. If they were available in one location, it would free up shelf space in the satellite libraries for other books.
In the course of my own genealogical research, I have traveled to other cities to access their libraries' collections. Since a new motel is being constructed across the street from the old Largo Library building, it would be an attractive draw for out-of-town and state researchers as a place to stay while they work on their family trees.

Library site was intended for public use
In all the speculation, consultant studying, public comment and surveys of future use of the existing library building in Largo, everyone (including the City Commission and city administration) is overlooking that the Jenkins family donated the site for public use. While I am told Mr. Jenkins did not formally write down that intent in an ironclad agreement in his gift of the land to the city, it is widely known that the gift was for public use.
I wish someone would look into how the intent was written down and see if we can't use that document as a directive of the gift to keep the building public as it was intended.
