Genealogy clearinghouse dies
By GERARD SHIELDS
U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., wants to form a genealogical research center for African Americans.
Last week, Landrieu reintroduced the Servitude and Emancipation Archival Research Clearinghouse or SEARCH to help African-Americans research their family histories. The $5 million measure was introduced in the last Congress but died in the House of Representatives.
