My name is Gwendolyn Broady-Hayden. I want to trace my family’s history, but I don’t know how to begin. I’ve come to realize I truly need some assistance in this endeavor.

My father’s name was James Broady (passed away in 1978 in Washington, DC). His father’s name was Hiram Broady from Amherst, Virginia. My grandfather’s wife’s (my grandmother) name was Mary Alexander Broady. I understand that a town in Virginia was named after her family.

My father had one brother (Benjamin) and one sister (Louise), and they were all born in Amherst. I also understand that I had an Aunt to lived on a Native-American reservation in Virginia.

I was wondering if anyone has run across any of my family history as a researcher, family member, family acquaintance, etc. I also would be very interested in obtaining the services of a researcher to assist me with obtaining history of my family as well as locating any living family in the Virginia area.
