AfriGeneas States Research Forum

[TX] Death Index

From: JOYCE HORNBEAK To The TX-AfriGeneas Mailing List

Hello:

The Social Security Adm. has a SS Death Index (very extensive) but
you will find only those who were age 62 or older when they died.
(Receiving SS payments)

Try this URL for deaths in Texas, California and Kentucky or Virginia. You can link to it through http://www.rootsweb.com

This is a very good site for doing your genealogical resesarch. Also,
when you do link to California's death list, try the Obit times. It will show
names of persons that have died in that state. The other two states (Texas and Kentucky or Virginia, may also have obit times.

Each county in the United States (every state) has a web page and message board.

Link through http://www.usgenweb.com and you can locate the state and then the county in which you are interested.

There is lots of information for any researcher.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Joyce E. Hornbeak
