[VA] African Americans in Lynchburg Find Their Roots

African Americans in Lynchburg Find Their Roots

Lynchburg, VA (WSET) - In honor of February's Black History Month, an African American genealogy workshop was held at the Lynchburg Public Library Friday afternoon.

The workshop was part of the Lynchburg Museum's temporary exhibit, "To Be Sold: Virginia and the American Slave Trade."

Archivists traveled from Richmond to show people new ways to track their ancestry.

For Debi White, it was more than just a workshop... it was about family legacy.

"I have 6 grandbabies, all boys, aged six and under," said White. "I'm preparing a family history book for each of their families."
