Re: [OH] JONES family Greenfield, OH
In Response To: Re: [OH] JONES family Greenfield, OH ()
I recently moved back to Ohio after living in Atlanta for 16 years, which is why I am picking up researching this line of my family due to better access to local resources and easier travel if necessary.
But I will also be sure to upload photos here on Afrigeneas. Most of the Springfield visits occurred in the 1940s and unfortunately, my great grandmother did not label them with the persons's names, only "Springfield 41" or "Springfield 1949." So I have lots of pictures with no names attached. My grandmother - Nancy's granddaughter - told me that they visited great uncles/aunts in Springfield. I only have a couple older relatives (one my grandmother's older sister) still here with us and I will be going to see them in the next week to see if they know some of the people in the pictures.
But Greenfield has thrown me for a loop. I had already looked into Springfield for Jones' and found a couple that had a Nancy around my Nancy's age on the 1850 and 1860 census but there is a Nancy Jones in Greenfield too on the 1860 census.
In response to this thread, another contributor linked me to the image of Nancy's death certificate, which was odd being that it stated that she was born in Indiana and gave her father's name as Isaac, but I don't know if I can trust that information since the informant for the death certificate was a hospital worker. Unfortunately, Nancy lost about 3 children before she died and she was the informant on all of their death certificates and stated that she was born in Greefield, OH so I am more apt to believe that info versus the one on her death certificate provided by the hospital worker.
