Black Catholic Research

Greetings AfriGeneas Researchers:

I am working on a project on Catholic men of color in the nineteenth century. In particular, I am focusing on the state of Louisiana. If anyone has an ancestor who made a significant contribution to the Church, either serving as a sexton/sacristan, benefactor, educator, etc., I would be very interes ted in your information.

I am also looking for cases of Catholic men who converted to other religions because they wanted to preach but could not become priests (due to race).
