Re: The Cotton Club-Adger
In Response To: The Cotton Club ()
Still have to verify a set of parents, but I think this Julius may have been a grandson of Robert Mara Adger of Philadelphia. In assorted census and other documents, the name shifts from Julius to Julian to Jules. In 1935 a Jules Adger was part of the Cotton Club Boys. (there is a picture on a site dealing with the Cotton Club which shows several young men in profile in a dance line). March 23, 1939 to June 3, 1939 Jules was a tap dancer in The Hot Mikado at the Broadhurst Theater then in 1943, he was one dancers in the film version of Cabin In The Sky. If I have the correct one, he also served as a private during WWII enlisting October 24, 1942, his civil occupation listed as dancers and chorus girls. Jules Adger was born 8/19/1913 and died 5/27/1991 in California. Attempting to get a copy of his obit, but have had little success getting older obits out of California.
